Announcing the Second Annual Portland Open Singles Championship, a singles tournament for ALL Portland area bowlers.
The Champion will walk away with the coveted Rose Jug, as well as additional prizes.
So what is the Portland Open Singles:
● Bracket tournament for all genders and all skill levels conducted on a flexible schedule between mid-July and mid-September. Players will have a set period of time to complete their match on their own schedule.
○ The final will be played on September 26
○ Draw will be random and will take place on July 16
○ Bracket will be posted online and competitors will be notified via email as to their opponent and timeline for completion
○ The match must be completed prior to the deadline for that round of matches
○ If a match is not contested within the time frame, a coin flip will determine the winner

Match Format
- Four bowl singles
- Matches will be played in Sets (allow for 2 hours to play each match):
- Each round will consist of a “Best of Three” series
- Games 1 and 2 will have the same game play:
- 9 ends
- high score wins
- ties allowed
- If the same player wins Games 1 and 2, that player wins
- If one game ends in a tie and the other game has a winner, the winner of the game advances
- If the two players each win one game, or if both games end in a tie, they play Game 3
- Game 3:
- 3 ends
- high score wins
- If tied after 3 ends, 1 end sudden death
- Games 1 and 2 will have the same game play:
- Each round will consist of a “Best of Three” series
- Game winner reports the score via email to PLBC.Tournaments1@gmail.com by the cut-off date for each round. The opponent should be copied on the email to ensure accurate scoring.
Eligibility and Entrance Fees
● All players from the Portland-area (Oregon and SW Washington) with experience lawn bowling are eligible
● Players do not need to be a member of Bowls USA
● Players arrange a time (and place) to play their match between themselves
● Players can play at any mutually agreeable green in the area
● If the players cannot agree on a location, the game shall take place at PLBC at Westmoreland Park
● If the players cannot complete their game due to extenuating circumstances (i.e. vacation schedule), they can request a time exemption from the Tournament Director (Joe Maser); exemptions should be requested as soon as possible.
